Xeric Collection: Ornamental Shrubs

The Pikes Peak Front Range is a semi-arid region with hot, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. As a result, plants that grow in this region must be able to tolerate a wide range of conditions. Xeric plants are those that are adapted to dry, arid climates. They generally have deep roots that allow them to reach water deep in the soil, and they have leaves that are coated in a waxy layer that helps to prevent water loss.
